Lynchburg, VA - Lynchburg College, currently ranked 11th in nation, built a 6-0 halftime lead and never looked back on their way to a 10–1 victory over Marywood University non-conference men's lacrosse action on Wednesday evening. The Hornets improve to 2-1 on the season while the Pacers suffered their first loss of the year and see their record slip to 2-1.
 
Lynchburg jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the first 15 minutes of play behind first-quarter goals by Andrew Wilfong, Ben Sauer, and Eddie Bilankas. Wilfong sandwiched his second and third goals of the game around a tally by the Hornets' Dylan Hoff to give the hosts a 6-0 lead at halftime as Lynchburg outshot Marywood 14-8 in the opening half.
 
William Roerden put the Pacers on the board with his fourth goal of the season by scoring off a Joe LaBella assist 2:39 into the third quarter. Sauer and Hoff responded with goals for the Hornets to put Lynchburg up 8-1 at the 10:49 mark of the period. Sauer completed his hat-trick with 30 seconds left to give the Hornets a comfortable, 9-1 lead heading into the final 15 minutes of play.
 
Lynchburg's Chase Loetz scored off a Tyler Burford assist with 1:53 to play in the contest to account for the only scoring in the fourth quarter.
 
Wilfong and Sauer's hat-tricks led the Hornets' attack as Lynchburg held a 34-18 advantage in shots for the game and won 38 groundballs to 26 for Marywood. 
 
Jesse Habich went this distance in Marywood's cage, making 13 saves and helping the Pacers to keep Lynchburg scoreless in five extra-man opportunities. Habich and Chris Vogel tied for a game-high with three caused turnover apiece while Habich was credited with a game-best eight groundballs.
 
Marywood closes out their Spring Break trip on Saturday when they take on Ferrum College in a non-conference game scheduled to face-off at 12:00 p.m. in Ferrum, Virginia.
