Bridgewater, NJ – After being forced back inside by mother nature for over a week, the Marywood University baseball team returned to action Saturday afternoon and split a doubleheader with CSAC foe Centenary College at TD Bank Park in Bridgewater, New Jersey. The host Cyclones took a close opener 3-1 before Marywood's offense explode d for an 8-0 win in the nightcap. Marywood moves to 9-5 overall and 3-2 in CSAC action while Centenary now stands at 3-9, 1-1 CSAC.

Marywood was limited to just four singles in the opener which came from the bats of Joe Diskin, Jared Yanniello, Thomas Czerw and Eric Tomkins. Tim Freda took his first loss of the season on the mound, falling to 3-1 overall, after allowing three runs on six hits. Freda pitched all six innings and struck out five in the complete-game effort.

The Pacers' offense awoke in the second game as Marywood spread out the scoring, plating two runs in the second, fifth and seventh innings while scoring once in the fourth and sixth. Ryan Pelle moved to 4-0 on the hill for Marywood with a complete-game, three-hit performance. Pelle struck out five on the afternoon and walked only one.

Steve Wade went 3-for-4 at the plate with two singles, a double and two RBI. Nicholas Pasqualichio was 2-for-4 with a single and a triple, while Shane Miller was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a double.  Yanniello nd Steve Wade also picked up doubles for Marywood.

Marywood hopes to return to the friendly confines of their home field this Thursday March 31 against Baptist Bible College. Weather and field conditions depending, the Pacers and Defenders will play a single, nine-inning game beginning at 3:30 pm in Scranton. The Pacers' doubleheader against Penn State Wilkes-Barre that was scheduled for Sunday has already been postponed.
