Men's Tennis Wins Sixth Straight, Defeat King's

Scranton, PA - Marywood University won their sixth straight match to improve to 7-3 on the year after defeating non-conference rival 7-2 in men's tennis action Sunday afternoon in Scranton.  The Pacers swept doubles action to build an early 3-0 lead and then won at 1-4 singles play to secure the win.  King's falls to 4-8 with the loss.

All three of Marywood's doubles teams won by a final score of 8-5 to give the Pacers the lead going into singles play.  At one-doubles, Marywood's Greg Chilson and Todd Doran secured a win over Tony Bevevino and Michael Steinberger.  At two-doubles, the Pacers' team of Daniel Pfafman and Wyatt Nolan beat Tim Carroll and Jake Rohring, while Marywood's Ethan Jones and Frank Nicolosi were victorious over Chris DiMino and P.T. Romano.

In singles action, Chilson downed Carroll 6-0, 6-2 in the top flight while Doran beat Bevevino 6-3, 6-3 at two-singles.  In the third singles flight, Pfafman downed Steinberger in three sets (6-4, 5-7, 10-7) whle Jones picked up Marywood's fourth singles point with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Conte.

Rohring and DiMino won at five and six singles, respectively, for the Monarchs.  Rohring beat Nolan 6-0, 6-3 and DiMino downed Nicolosi 6-0, 6-4 at six singles.

Marywood will look to extend their win streak to seven straight when the Pacers return to the courts Wednesday with another non-conference match as they face Lebanon Valley College at 3:30 pm in Scranton.
