Scranton Hands Marywood Sixth Straight Loss

Scranton, PA - The University of Scranton plated three runs in each of the first three innings and Marywood University committed seven errors on the day as the Royals defeated the host Pacers 16-4 in non-conference baseball action Thursday afternoon in Scranton.  Marywood, who has now lost six straight, falls to 12-12 overall while the University of Scranton improved to 9-14 on the year.

The Royals buiult a 6-0 lead before the Pacers scored two in the third on a fielder's choice with David Maione at the plate and a bases loaded walk.  The visitors quickly responded with three more runs in the third to take a commanding 9-2 lead after three.  Alex Magid gave up five earned runs, and nine total, on eight Royal hits over three innings of work.

Josh Plisko was solid over the next five innings on the mound for Marywood, allowing just two earned runs while striking out two.  John Stolan pitched the final inning for Marywood, allowing three runs.

Matt Mosko got his first win on the mound to improve to 1-3 on the year for the Royals.  Mosko went six innings, allowing just five hits while striking out seven.  John  Rogers pitched the final three innings for Scranton, allowing one run on no hits while stirking out five.

Marywood's Joe Diskin was 2-for-4 at the plate while Scranton was led by Chris Stallone's 4-for6, two-RBI performance.  Matt Rayha was 2-for-3 for Scranton with three runs scored.

Marywood hosts Keystone College in CSAC action Friday afternoon at 3:00 pm.
