Keystone Bests Marywood in CSAC Baseball Action

Scranton, PA - Keystone College improved to 8-1 in Colonial States Athletic Conference baseball action and 15-8 overall with a 12-1 win over host Marywood University Friday afternoon at Pacers' Field.  Marywood dropped their seventh seventh straight with the loss and fell to 12-13, 5-7 CSAC.  The Giants broke open a 3-1 game with a four-run fifth and got homers from Andrew Siano and Will Delgado in the win.

Up 1-0 after one, Keystone added two more in the third on a two-run shot to left center from Siano.  Marywood responded in the bottom half of the inning, using an error and passed ball to get a runner in scoring position.  A Jared Yaniello single to left would score Joe Diskin, giving the Pacers what would turn out to be their only run of the game.

Keystone broke open the game in the fifth.  Up 3-1, Siano walked and stole second and would score on a Roberto Santana single to center.  Santana would move to third on a wild pitch and would then cross the plate when Andy Vega singled to left.  Then, with the bases loaded, a Gabe Torres double to center plated two runs to put the Giants up 7-1.

Keystone would add one more in teh seventh when Kumar Piar tripled to center to score Torres and put four more on the board in the eighth highlighted with Delgado's homer.

Jeff Frost (4-3) got the win after allowing one run on seven hits over seven innings of work. Frost struck out ten on the day.  Two Giant pitchers combined for one-hit relief over the final two innings.

Marywood's Jason Aikens took the loss.  Mike Siciliano pitched two innings of relief and Richard Bell pitched one hitless inning.

Yaniello was 2-for-5 to lead Marywood, while Torres finished the day 4-for-5 for the Giants.

Keystone and the Pacers will face off again tomorrow in LaPlume with a doubleheader. Due to expected inclement weather later in the day, the opening game will start at 11:00 am.
