Scranton, PA - Marywood University broke open a 10-10 tie with seven unanswered goals, four of which came from the stick of Taylor McKeown, as the Pacers earned a big Colonial States Athletic Conference women's lacrosse win against visiting Gwynedd-Mercy College 17-10 Saturday afternoon at Marywood's turf field. With the win, Marywood handed GMC their first league defeat and now sit atop the league standings with the Griffins and Cabrini College while setting a new program record for wins in a season.

Marywood (10-3, 5-1 CSAC) got on the board first thanks to one of McKeown's seven tallies on the day. The junior attacker's first goal came just over two minutes into the contest on a free-position shot. McKeown then assisted on a Diana D'Achille tally a little over a minute later to put the Pacers up 2-0, and Marywood would stretch their lead to 5-1 on goals from Allie Sodl, Sarah Caughy and D'Achille.

The Griffins would battle back towards the end of the first half and early in the second half. The Griffins closed the first half by scoring two of the final three goals to go into halftime with an 8-5 deficit, but would come out of the gates hard in the second half, scoring three consecutive times to tie the game at 8-8.

Another D'Achille goal, this time unassisted at the 21:45 mark, put the Pacers back up one, but Gwynedd tied the game on a goal from Morgan Hosler. D'Achille scored her fourth goal of the game to put Marywood up 10-9 on a free-position shot but the visitors responded less than a minute later on a goal from Kirstyn Varas that was assisted by Hosler.

That would be all the scoring on the day for the Griffins, however, as Marywood rallied off seven unanswered to break open the game. Besides four more goals from McKeown, the Pacers also got goals during the stretch from Caughy, Sodl and D'Achille.

McKeown finished the afternoon with a team-high seven goals and D'Achille finished with six for Marywood. Caughy and Sodl each had two. Brigid Dowling, Kristie Pollock and Shannon Carabba each had two goals for Gwynedd.

Megan Planz made nine saves in between the Pipes for Marywood while Trisha Timony made 15 stops for the Griffins.

Marywood honored the team's two seniors, Sodl, and Meg Barbarino, who assisted on Sodl's first goal, at halftime of the contest.

With the 17-10 win over the Griffins, Marywood is now one of three-teams (Gwynedd-Mercy and Cabrini) to have one league loss. The Pacers and Griffins each have two CSAC games remaining while Cabrini has three. Marywood returns to action Tuesday when they visit Rosemont College at 4:00 pm.
