Baseball Snaps Skid as Offense Explodes for 16 Runs

Scranton, PA - Marywood University exploded for 16 runs on 19 hits as the Pacers ended a nine-game losing streak with a 16-3 win over Philadelphia Biblical University Monday afternoon in Scranton.  Marywood's Tim Freda picked up his fifth win of the year on the mound as Marywood improves to 13-15 (6-9 CSAC).  Shane Miller had three RBIs and Steve Wade, Mike Pinelli, Mike Diskin and Eric Tomkins each had two in the Pacers' win.

Marywood plated one run in the first and then added four in the second to take a 5-0 lead.  The Pacers scored twice in the third before adding three runs in the fourth, fifth and seventh innings.  Philadelphia Biblical (3-14, 0-6 CSAC) scored one run in the fouth, another in the sixth and their last in the eighth.

Nicholas Pasqualichio was 2-for-5 for the Pacers with a pair of doubles while Pinelli, who was 2-for-3, also hit two doubles.  Miller, Jared Yaniello and Tomkins each had doubles while Mike Sundholm, who finished the day 4-for-5 to lead PBU, also had two doubles and scored all three runs for the Crimson Eagles.

Freda (5-2) went seven innings, allowing two runs on five hits while striking out eight.  Josh Plisko pitched the final two innings for Marywood, striking out four while allowing one run on four hits.

Marywood returns to action Tuesday when they host Misericordia University at 3:30 pm in non-conference action.
