Tennis Bests Keystone 8-1, Showdown with GMC awaits

LaPlume, PA - Marywood University won their second straight Colonial States Athletic Conference men's tennis match by an 8-1 score, this time defeating nearby foe Keystone College on their home courts Monday afternoon in LaPlume.  Marywood stands at 9-3 on the season and remain atop the CSAC standings with an unblemished 4-0 league mark while the Giants slipped to 2-5, 2-2 CSAC with the loss.

In doubles play, Marywood's top team of Greg Chilson and Todd Doran picked up an 8-4 win over Keystone's Chris Conte and Samual Dahmer.  At two-doubles, Daniel Pfafman and Wyatt Nolan led the Pacers to a 8-2 win, while Ethan Jones and Frank Nicolosi handled Matt Gentile and Abraham Shagoury, 8-1.

In singles play, despite a three-set victory by Keystone's Mark Musumeci in the fifth flight, Marywood still picked up five wins to take home their 11th consecutive regular season CSAC match.  Doran picked up a win at two-singles by forfiet while his doubles partner Chilson won at the top singles flight, 6-4, 6-3.  Pfafman and Jones each blanked their opponents 6-0, 6-0 at three and four singles, respectively.  Nicolosi was a 6-1, 6-2 winner at six singles for Marywood.  Nolan fell to Musumeci 7-6 (7-5), 0-6, 10-7.

Marywood returns to action Thursday when they travel to Gwynedd Valley to face Gwynedd-Mercy College in a match that could prove to be decisive in who earns the top seed in the upcoming CSAC Championship.  The Pacers and Griffins will go at it at 12:00 noon.
