Scranton, PA – Susquehanna University used a key, 6-0 run in the second and third quarters to rally from a two-goal first half deficit on their way to a 13-10 victory in a non-conference men's lacrosse game that was televised live on WQMY-TV My Network TV on Wednesday afternoon.   The Crusaders improve to 8-5 on the season with the win while the Pacers, who saw their five-game winning streak snapped, fall to 9-4 this spring.

John Kerrigan gave Susquehanna a 1-0 lead at the 7:38 mark of the first quarter before Marcus Janda equalized for Marywood off a George Downey assist just 22 seconds later, starting a three goal run by the Pacers that saw the hosts hold a 3-1 lead after the first 15 minutes of play with Downey and Nick Parks scoring goals.

Luke Delavan got one back for the Crusaders just under a minute and a half into the second quarter before William Roerden restored Marywood's two-goal cushion off a feed from Anthony Tuscai at the 9:10 mark. Billy Spack again brought the visitors back within a goal with 8:03 to play in the first half, but Downey countered with his second goal of the afternoon to give Marywood a 5-3 lead.

Back to back goes by Spack tied the score at 5-apiece before Roerden's second goal of the game, assisted by Jameson Roberts, gave Marywood a 6-5 lead with 3:33 to play in the first half. Susquehanna responded with the game's next six goals through, and held an 11-6 lead with 5:06 remaining in the third quarter on Delavan's third goal of the game. Parks scored off a Nick Stoud helper with 1:39 showing on the clock to cut Marywood's deficit to 11-7 heading into the final 15 minutes of play.

Roerden and Downey both completed their hat-tricks in the first 7:10 of the fourth quarter as the Pacers cut the Crusaders' lead to 11-9 with Brian Roerden assisting on Downey's marker, but goals by Delavan and Spack restored Susquehanna's four-goal advantage. Tuscai scored unassisted with 27 seconds remaining for Marywood to close out the scoring for the game.

Downey led Marywood with four points on three goals and one assist while Roerden (3 goals) and Janda (1 goal, 2 assists) had three point efforts and Parks (2 goals) and Tuscai (1 goal, 1 assist) each added multi-point performances in the loss. Goalie Jesse Habich went the distance in Marywood's cage and turned aside 13 shots while taking the loss.

Marywood, who won 14 of the game's 27 face-offs, was led by Mike Falco, who went 8-14 on draws while Stephen Klepfer won three of his four face-offs for the game. Nick Johnson recorded a game-high four caused turnovers and added a team-best five groundballs.

Susquehanna, who held a 37-27 advantage in shots for the game and a 45-38 edge in groundballs, was led by Spack's six-point effort, which came on four goals and two assists. Delavan added five points on four goals and one helper while Dustin Breakey assisted on five goals for the Crusaders. Starting goalie Will Torrence made two saves in the first thirty minutes of action before being replaced by Anthony Maiorella, who turned in a solid, seven save second half effort to pick up the win.

Prior to the game, Marywood honored the team's 14 seniors, the first four-year graduating class of the men's lacrosse program who have been with the squad since it's varsity inception in 2008. This year's senior class includes Eric Luhrmann, George Downey IV, Jesse Habich, Matthew Churchwell, William Roerden, George DeAngelo, Anthony Tuscai, Jamie Beagen, Stephen Klepfer, Nick Parks, Brian Roerden, Lanny Jean, Jr. , James Drescher, and Nick Stoud.
