Gwynedd Valley, PA – Marywood University's men's tennis team won their ninth-straight match on Thursday afternoon, blanking Colonial States Athletic Conference foe Gwynedd-Mercy College. The Pacers, who have won their last 12 regular season matches against CSAC opponents, improve to 10-3 overall and a 5-0 in conference play with the win while the Griffins fall to 1-4 on the spring and 1-2 in the CSAC.
In doubles action, Greg Chilson and Todd Doran blanked Gwynedd's Jared Morgan and Ryan Murray at number one doubles while Wyatt Nolan and Daniel Pfafman teamed up to claim an 8-1 decision at number two doubles. Ethan Jones and Frank Nicolosi earned an 8-1 win at number three doubles to complete the sweep for Marywood.
In singles' play, Chilson defeated Morgan 6-2, 4-6, and 10-7 at number one while Doran claimed a win at number two, 6-2, 6-3, over Lou Vessels. Pfafman earned a 6-4, 6-1 victory at number three over Murray and Jones topped Tim Munsey with a pair of 6-1 set wins at number four.
Nolan defeated Ethan Albino 6-0, 6-1 at the number five slot while Nicolosi blanked Tom Dempsey at number six as Marywood swept the Griffins in a key conference match.
Marywood returns to action on Tuesday when they Baptist Bible College in a match scheduled for 3:30 p.m. in Scranton.
