Men's Tennis Clinches Top Seed with 8-1 Win Over BBC

Scranton, PA - Host Marywood University clinched their second consecutive #1 seed in the upcoming Colonial States Athletic Conference men's tennis playoffs with an 8-1 win over visiting Baptist Bible College Tuesday afternoon in Scranton.  The Pacers improved to 11-3 on the year and 6-0 in league play while handing BBC their first league loss.  The Defenders are now 5-4 overall and 4-1 in CSAC action.

Marywood picked up a pair of 8-2 win in doubles play with wins from Greg Chilson and Todd Doran in the top doubles flight and Ethan Jones and Frank Nicolosi at #3 doubles.  Daniel Pfafman and Wyatt Nolan won 8-3 at two-doubles to give Marywood a 3-0 lead entering singles play.

In singles action Jones earned a 6-0, 6-2 win at four-singles while Nolan was a 6-1, 6-0 winner at five singles over Aaron McCauley.  Chilson improved to 5-1 in CSAC singles action with a 6-3, 6-2 win at one-singles over Ryne Davies, while Nicolosi was a three-set (6-2, 4-6, 10-2) winner over Luke Williams.

BBC got their lone point on the day in a hard-fought win from Caleb Evans at two-singles.  Evans beat Doran 7-5, 6-4 handing his first CSAC defeat of the year. 

Marywood, now winners of 14 consecutive CSAC regular season matches, can close out their second consecutive perfect regular season when they visit Immaculata University Saturday at 1:00 pm.
