Scranton, PA - Alexandra Stine struck out 12 batters in the opener and Kaitlyn Brennan had five RBIs while picking up a win on the mound in game two as Marywood University improved to 5-1 in CSAC play with a doubleheader sweep of visiting Gwynedd-Mercy College Sunday afternoon in Scranton.  The Pacers, now 9-7 overall on the year, beat the Griffins 10-5 in the opener before claiming the nightcap 13-5 in five innings.  GMC fell to 5-12 (3-5 CSAC) after the losses.

Stine was dominate through four innings in the opener, striking out 10 batters over the first four innings of play.  Stine struck out the side twice and struck out two batters in both the first and fourth innings.  The Griffins would not go quietly, however, as they rallied from an 8-0 deficit by scoring four runs in the visiting half of the fifth.  Marywood would add two more in the sixth, however, and Jaclyn Parsons closed the door on the Griffin bats over the last two innings to help Marywood preserve the win.

Catcher Shawna Sandy was 2-for-3 in the opener with two RBIs while Ashley Dommes was 2-for-4.  Sandy, Kaitlyn Brennan, Stine and Dommes all picked up doubles while Kim Lope, Talia Williams and Kim Flanagan all had triples for the Pacers.

In the nightcap, Brennan had five RBIs, three of which came on a three-run blast over the left-field fence in the bottom of the fourth, as Marywood won 13-5 in five innings.  Brennan also picked up the win on the mound after allowing three earned runs and striking out two.

Marywood used a big third inning, scoring 10 times, only two of which were earned, off Griffin pitcher Stephanie Farrar.  Marywood collected 16 hits in all in the nightcap, including doubles from Brennan and Dommes and two doubles from Lope as well as one from Kaitlyn Jones.

Marywood returns to action Friday April 8 with a CSAC doubleheader against nearby foe Baptist Bible College.  The doubleheader in Clarks Summit is slated for a 3:00 pm start.
