Scranton, PA – Marywood University's men's tennis team closed out their regular season with a 9-0 victory over Immaculata University in Colonial States Athletic Conference play on Saturday afternoon. The Pacers, now winners of 11-consectuive matches, will enter the CSAC Championships as the top seed with a perfect, 7-0 conference record and finish the regular season with a 12-3 overall record while the Mighty Macs end their season with a 2-11 record (2-5 CSAC).
Greg Chilson and Todd Doran claimed an 8-1 win at number one doubles and Daniel Pfafman and Wyatt Nolan teamed up for an 8-0 decision at number two doubles. Frank Nicolosi and Ethan Jones completed the sweep for Marywood in doubles with an 8-1 victory at number three.
In singles action, Chilson defeated Nick Tarlecki, 6-0, 6-1 at number one and Doran beat Demetrios Vlahos, 6-1, 6-2. Pfafman dropped Eric Schmidt 6-3, 6-1 at number three while Jones earned a 6-2, 6-1 decision over T.J. Klinger. Nolan won 6-0, 6-1 at number five while Nicolosi completed the sweep by disposing of Todd Stokley, 6-1, 6-1 as Marywood did not drop a single set during the match.
The Pacers, the top seed and defending CSAC Champions, will take on the fourth seed in the CSAC Semifinals on Friday at Northwood Racquet Club in Easton, PA. The semifinals are scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m.
