Marywood Drops Doubleheader at Centenary

Hackettstown, NJ – Freshman hurler Alexandra Stine carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning but Centenary College scored three times in the home half of the inning to rally from a 2-0 deficit and beat the Pacers 3-2. The host Cyclones then scored four runs in the first inning of the nightcap en route to a 4-2 win to sweep Marywood in CSAC softball action.

Centenary now stands atop the CSAC standings with a 10-2 mark in league play (17-7 overall) while Marywood fell to 10-10, 6-4 CSAC.
Stine struck out five over the first five innings of play and held onto a no-hitter with one out in the sixth before Centenary belted four singles, scoring three times, to climb back from a 2-0 hole. Marywood scored once in the second and once more in the third to take an early lead. Stine and Ashley Dommes each had doubles, and Marywood out-hit the hosts 9-4 in the opener. Talia Williams and Jillian Flanagan both went 2-for-3 at the plate for the Pacers.

In the nightcap, Centenary jumped out to an early lead and held on despite being out-hit by the visitors again. Marywood held a slim 10-9 advantage in hits but could not come back. Kaitlyn Brennan took the loss on the mound after allowing two earned runs on nine hits.

Marywood returns to action Sunday when the Pacers travel to face Rosemont College in a CSAC doubleheader slated for a 1:00 pm start.
