Scranton, PA – Brett Megee scored two goals and Christian Lawlor added a goal and two assists to lead Marywood University to a 3-1 victory over Alfred College in non-conference men's soccer action on Saturday afternoon. The Pacers picked up their first win of the season to improve to 1-1 while the Saxons see their record slip to 1-2-1.

Lawlor opened the scoring in the sixth minute of play, running onto a long punt off the foot of goalkeeper Jared El Gayeh that got behind Alfred's back four and making good of the breakaway opportunity. In the 14th minute, Jamie Mangini rifled a shot off the crossbar and Lawlor served a one-time pass off the rebound to Megee, who scored from close range to double Maywood's advantage.

Alfred responded just 56 seconds later when Jose Sanchez slipped a ball through the Pacers' defense that Jeffery Thomas ran onto and finished to the far post to cut the Saxons' deficit in half. Marywood would hold a 2-1 lead at halftime despite outshooting Alfred 11-2 in the opening 45 minutes of play.

The hosts restored their two-goal cushion in the 54th minute. Lawlor served a cross into the box that Jordan Krawitz one-timed across Alfred's goalmouth that Megee slipped past Saxon goalkeeper Elliot Thorpe for his second goal of the match.

The Pacers finished the afternoon with a 14-5 advantage in shots and had 11 corner kicks to three for the Saxons.

El Gayeh made three saves to earn his first victory of the season while Thorpe finished with five saves for Alfred.

Marywood is back in action on Wednesday evening when they play host to Moravian College in a non-conference game scheduled to kickoff at 7:00 p.m. in Scranton.
