Scranton, PA - Marywood University fell to visiting Swarthmore College 2-1 in the opening game of the Joe Bochicchio Memorial Classic Saturday afternoon in Scranton.  The University of Scranton beat Lebanon Valley College 3-2 in the other game that was played at Scranton's Fitzpatrick field.  Swarthmore improved to 2-2 on the year with the win while Marywood slipped to 1-3.

Despite getting out-shot by the Garnet 11-3 in the first half, several nice saves from Marywood first-half netminder Dominique Kozuch kept the game scoreless entering the break.  The visitors would break through just 21 seconds into the second half though, taking the ball down the left wing and in on a breakaway.  Aly Passanante followed a shot off the post and beat Marywood keeper Emily Osborne to give the Garnet a 1-0 lead.

Less than three minutes later the Pacers answered with the equalizer as Siobhan Blancaflor took a throw-in from Lacey Habicht and beat Garnet goalie Marie Mutryn to tie the game.  With 25 minutes left in regulation, Swarthmore snagged the game-winner as Emma Sindelar used a feed from Amy DiPierro before beating Osborne for the winning tally.

Swarthmore held a commanding 21-5 edge in shots and had four corners to Marywood's one.  Kozuch made two stops in 45 minutes of action while Osborne made three saves.  Mutryn made two saves in the win for the Garnet.

Marywood will host LVC (2-1) tomorrow at 1:00 pm while Scranton (3-0) will host Swarthmore. Both games have 1:00 pm kickoffs.
