Scranton, PA – Marywood University's volleyball team suffered its first two defeats of the season on Saturday, dropping 3-0 decisions to Clarkson University and the University of Scranton on the final day of the Scranton Invitational. The Pacers see their record slip to 3-2 after Saturday's results.
In Saturday's opener against Clarkson, the Golden Knights claimed wins of 25-18, 25-17, and 25-17 to secure the win and hand Marywood their first loss of the season. The Pacers were led by Emily Fillman, who had eight kills to go along with 11 digs. Alyssa Hartranft led the team with 18 assists while Rachel Tollett recorded a team-best 15 digs.
In the nightcap, the host Royals took close decisions of 25-21, 25-22, and 25-18 to notch the victory. A trio of Pacers recorded six kills apiece including Fillman, Kim Lope, and Ashley Zalewski. Hartranft dished out a team-best 26 assists and Tollett again led the squad in digs with 12 on the afternoon.
Hartranft was named to the All-Tournament Team as the Pacers finished the weekend with a 2-2 record.
Marywood will look to get back in the win column on Monday evening when they host Penn State Berks in a non-conference match slated to begin at 7:00 in the Insalaco Arena.
