Scranton, PA – Marywood University claimed three tight games to earn a 3-0 victory over visiting Penn State-Berks on Monday evening in non-conference volleyball action in the Insalaco Arena. The Pacers, who got 10 kills apiece from Ashley Cavellier and Emily Fillman, improve to 4-2 on the season while the Lions suffer their first lost of the season and fall to 2-1.

Marywood won the first two games by scores of 25-22 before capping off the win with a 25-23 decision in game three. The Pacers held a 40-26 advantage in the kills department, half of those evenly divided between Cavellier and Fillman. Jessica Lynne Swida added eight kills in the victory.

Alyssa Hartranft led all players on the evening with 33 assists and 17 digs while Fillman also contributed 14 digs and Rachel Tollett added eight digs. Ashley Zalewski had a match-best two service aces for the Pacers.  

Marywood will be back in action this coming weekend when they travel to Neumann University for the Knights Invitational. The Pacers open up against host Neumann in the team's first Colonial States Athletic Conference match on Friday at 2:30 p.m. before taking on Rutgers-Camden at 4:30 p.m. On Saturday the Pacers will play the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford at noon before closing the tournament out with a fourth match against an opponent yet to be determined.
