Aston, PA – Marywood University's volleyball team rebounded from a 3-1 loss to host Neumann University to score a 3-2 victory of Rutgers-Camden in the first night of action at the Knights Invitational on Friday evening.  The Pacers record sits at 5-3 overall and 0-1 in Colonial States Athletic Conference play after Friday's split.
 
In Friday's CSAC opener, Neumann claimed a tight first game by a score of 29-27 before winning game two 25-16.  Marywood cut their deficit to 2-1 with a 25-17 victory in the third game before the Knights claimed the win with a 25-19 win in the fourth game.
 
Kim Lope led the Pacers' attack with 13 kills and added two blocks to tie for a team-high with Erica KrakoskyAshley Cavellier recorded eight kills while Jessica Lynne Swida added seven.  Alyssa Hartranft dished out a match-best 38 assists and Ashley Zalewski led all players with six serves aces.  Marywood was led by Rachel Tollet's 16 digs while Swida (13), Cavellier (11), and Hartranft (10) also reached double-digits for digs.
 
In Friday's nightcap against Rutgers-Camden, the Scarlet Raptors won the first game 25-22 before the Pacers drew level with a 25-22 decision of their own and took a 2-1 win in game three.  Rutgers-Camden staved off defeat with a 27-25 win in the fourth set before Marywood won the hard-fought match with a 15-13 win in the decisive fifth game.
 
Zalewski led the Pacers with 12 kills while Swida (11) and Lope (10) also reached double-digit kills.  Tollett led the squad with 18 digs and 11 service aces while Hartranft dished a team-leading 40 assists.
 
Day Two of the Knights Invitational on Saturday will have Marywood playing the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford at 12:00 p.m. before meeting an opponent to be determined at either 2 or 4 p.m. pending the results of Saturday's first games.
