Morin, Dougherty Lead Field Hockey to First Win

Scranton, PA - Kathryn Morin and Julie Dougherty each scored twice and Morin added assists on three other Marywood tallies as the Pacers rolled to their first win of the season, a 6-1 victory over visiting Notre Dame of Maryland University.  Marywood improves to 1-4 overall and stands 1-0 in CSAC play while Notre Dame slips to 1-2 (0-1 CSAC).

Dana Sweeney put the Pacers on the board just 3:09 into Saturday's contest when she finished one of Morin's three assists on the day.  At the 5:59 mark, Morin tallied an unassisted marker to put the Pacers up 2-0.  The lead would stay at two for over twenty minutes before Ashley Logar put the Pacers up 3-0 at 28:09. Then, with four seconds left in the half, Dougherty scored her first of two on a feed from Morin.

Just over three and a half minutes into the second half, Morin would connect with Dougherty again, putting Marywood up 5-0.  Morin would then close the Marywood scoring on the day with a goal at the 43:55 mark on an assist from Sweeney.

Notre Dame spoiled Marywood's shutout attempt with a goal from Sarah Morris with just over seven minutes left.

Marywood out-shot the visitors 30-2 on the day.  Emily Langton made 14 stops for the Gators.  Jamie Bowman and Natalie Winters combined for the win for Marywood without being forced to make a stop.

Marywood returns to action Tuesday when they visit DeSales University in Allentown.  The non-conference tilt is slated for a 4:00 pm start.
