Gwynedd Valley, PA – Olivia Habicht headed home a corner kick from twin sister Lacey 6:51 into Marywoood's Colonial States Athletic Conference opener and Emily Osborne made four key saves to collect her first collegiate shutout as the visiting Pacers beat host Gwynedd-Mercy College 1-0 Saturday afternoon in women's soccer action. Marywood improved to 2-4 (1-0 CSAC) with the win while the Griffins fall to 0-6-1 (0-1 CSAC).

Habicht's goal came on the Pacers' second corner of the game. After Lacey Habicht's first corner kick was headed by Olivia off a GMC defender, Marywood reset and connected for the game-winning tally only seconds later as Olivia Habicht headed the ball near-post past a GMC defender and goalkeeper Abby Reed.

Despite numerous other scoring chances in the first half, Marywood could not find an insurance goal. Reed made several nice stops to keep the game close and several shots from the Pacers sailed harmlessly wide or high.

GMC proved dangerous on the offensive end using several long-ball counter-attacks to get behind the Pacers' defense and challenge Osborne. Osborne came up big on one breakaway and picked a GMC corner kick off in the air before it could reach trailing runners.

Gwynedd's most dangerous look came with around thirteen minutes remaining when Osborne illegally played a ball with her hand outside the 18, giving the Griffins a very dangerous set piece from 20 yards out. Fortunately for Marywood, Gwen Conte's strike was blocked by the wall.

Marywood returns to action Tuesday when the Pacers host Philadelphia Biblical University in 4:00 pm CSAC action.
