Scranton, PA – A balanced attack led Marywood University's volleyball team to a 3-1 win over Wilkes University in a non-conference match Thursday evening in the Insalaco Arena. Five different Pacers recorded at least six kills, led by nine from freshman Kathleen Reilly as Marywood improved their record to 6-5 on the season.
The Pacers jumped out to a 2-0 advantage with wins of 25-15 and 25-13 in the first two games, respectively, but the Colonels, now 1-9 on the season, stayed alive with a 25-22 victory in game three. Marywood closed out the match by reversing that scoreline in the deciding fourth frame.
In addition to her team-best nine kills, Reilly added three solo blocks and two block assists. Kim Lope and Ashley Zalewski each had seven kills for the Pacers with Lope adding three solo blocks and one block assist. Sara Melick and Erica Krakosky both added six kills for Marywood in the win.
Alyssa Hartranft led the squad with 29 assists while Rachel Tollett collected a team-leading 19 digs.
Marywood returns to action on Saturday at Rosemont College in a Colonial States Athletic Conference match scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
