Scranton, PA – Brandon Ritter scored two goals to lead Marywood University's men's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over visiting Rosemont College in Colonial States Athletic Conference action on Saturday afternoon. The Pacers improve to 4-2 on the season and 2-1 in conference play with the win while the Ravens fall to 4-3-2 on the year and 1-1-1 in the CSAC.

Ritter opened the scoring in the 39th minute of play after a nice build-up that started when Ryan Jones played a ball to Kris Kassel, which Kassel then slotted thru for Ritter. The junior ran on the pass and finished low to the back post to give the Pacers the 1-0 lead. Marywood controlled play for much of the first half, outshooting Rosemont 7-2 in the opening 45 minutes of play.

The Pacers doubled their lead in the 70th minute. Brett Megee headed a loose ball into the box down to Matthew Homishak, who then played a ball across the goalmouth that Ritter slammed home from close range to give the hosts a two-goal cushion.

Rosemont would not go down without a fight though and Rodney Aguirre drew a free kick at the top of Marywood's penalty area in the 78th minute. Aguirre then blasted the ensuing direct kick that found its way through the Pacer wall and past goalkeeper Jared El Gayeh. Despite some tense moments in the games closing minutes, El Gayeh and the Marywood defense held on for the 2-1 victory.

The Pacers held a 12-7 advantage in shots for the game while both teams had four corner kicks. El Gayeh picked up his fourth win of the season after making four saves while Rosemont netminder Nick Hulayew made three stops in the loss.

Marywood will travel to Keystone College on Tuesday for a CSAC match-up against the Giants which is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m. in La Plume, PA.
