Aston, PA - Neumann University's Kristin Ambrose scored on a tight angle shot 3:39 into the first overtime period and the host Knights shocked visiting Marywood with a 1-0 win over the Pacers Saturday afternoon in Aston.  The win was Neumann's first over Marywood since 2004 and just the third time the Knights have beat Marywood in 13 tries.  Neumann improves to 5-3 (2-0 CSAC) with the win while Marywood slips to 3-6 (2-1 CSAC).

Neumann had much of the better play on the day, but did not get many dangerous looks at goal.  The few long balls that did get behind the Pacers' defense were either picked up by Marywood keeper Emily Osborne or cleared away by defenders.

After a scoreless first half, Marywood had several chances to put the game away before Abrose's heroics in the extra frame.  At 76:27, Caitlin Light broke in behind the defense but her attempted chip shot was tapped by Knight goalkeeper Briana King.  Despite the ball continuing to roll towards goal, King turned and finished the save before another Marywood player could reach it.

Early into overtime, King made another phenomenal save, this time taking the ball of Siobhan Blancaflor's foot as the speedy forward attempted to cut around her on a break away.  King literally stopped the ball with her finger tips from rolling further away at the 92:59 mark.

King then blased a punt to midfield, where the ball found the foot of Ashley Hawkins.  The speedy forward had been kept at check by Marywood's defense all day, but this time was able to find a seam and slipped a well played ball to Ambrose, who converted the game winner.

Osborne finished the day with six saves, while King made two stops for the Knights.  Brittany Russ played in goal for the first half for Neumann and made one save.

Marywood returns to action Tuesday with their third of six consecutive away games.  The Pacers take on Cedar Crest College in Allentown at 4:00 pm.
