Scranton, PA- Moravian College pushed past a strong Marywood defense to win 2-0 in a non-conference match up Saturday afternoon in Scranton. Moravian improves on their season to 2-0 while Marywood's record moves to 0-2.
The Greyhounds broke the defensive struggle with a goal thirty minutes into the first half with a goal from Chelsea Grotyohann. Pacers Goalie Erin Dawson recorded nine saves to keep the game within one going into halftime.
The Pacers would come out strong in the second half, out shooting the Greyhounds five to four. Despite the tough effort of Marywood, Moravian scored its second goal, by Catherine Duffin, off a corner with just under eight minutes left in the game.
Briana Bacchetta had two defensive saves on the afternoon for the Pacers. The Greyhounds out shot Marywood on the day 15-6 and had a 10-4 advantage in penalty corners.
Marywood returns to play September 7th at 4pm when they host King's College.
