Scranton, PA – Marywood University's women's tennis team opened their season with an 8-1 victory over College of Notre Dame in a Colonial States Athletic Conference match on Saturday afternoon. The Pacers swept doubles play before winning five of six singles match-ups, all in straight sets, to give first year head coach Dominique Lemire-Ross a win in her collegiate coaching debut.

Lindsay Burke and Beth Schneider claimed an 8-3 win in one-doubles, besting the Gators' pair of Kelcy Bye and Amanda Fansler. Kara Hoff and Megan Nastelli defeated Anna Schmedding and Steph Thackoordeen 8-1 at two-doubles before Carly Leitzel and Melissa Hudock swept past Notre Dame's Megan Kemp and Alexandra Osorio to give the Pacers a 3-0 advantage heading into singles play.

Hoff, Leitzel, Burke, Schneider, and Nastelli all claimed 6-0, 6-0 wins at numbers two through six-singles, respectively. Bye provided the Gators with their only point of the afternoon by defeating Karli at number one singles on a tiebreaker.

The Pacers will be back in action next Saturday when they visit Rosemont College for a CSAC match slated to begin at 1:00 p.m.
