Radnor, PA – Cabrini College got a key, 11-0 run over a span of 2:55 late in the second half on their way to a 67-59 victory over Marywood University in Colonial States Athletic Conference women's basketball action on Saturday afternoon at Cabrini's Nerney Field House Pacers.  The Cavaliers improve to 7-7 overall on the season a 5-2 in conference play while the Pacers record slips to 11-4 (6-1 CSAC) after suffering their first setback in CSAC play.

The two teams traded buckets over the beginning of a low-scoring first half before Cabrini took a 14-10 with 8:31 to play on a Colleen Stewart field goal.  Marywood got back-to-back buckets from Mariah Schaeffer and Lindsey Schroth to level the score with 5:38 left on the clock, but the Cavaliers reclaimed the lead and stretched their advantage to 25-18 with 1:11 to play.   The Pacers responded by scoring the final five points of the stanza to cut their deficit to 25-23 at the break.

Maggie Presnal led all scorers in the first 20 minutes of play with 10 points while Marielle Thorsen added five points as the Pacers shot just 27 percent from the field in the period.  Cabrini, who shot 38 percent from the floor in the half, was paced by Stewart's eight points.

Marywood tied the contest back up just over a minute into the second half, but Cabrini would reclaim the lead and hold it as the teams continued to trade baskets early in the second half.  The Pacers once again forged a tie at 36-apiece with 11:27 remaining when Maddy Lavery hit a jumper, but with the Cavaliers leading 40-39, the hosts went on a decisive, 11-0 run to hold a 51-39 advantage with 6:14 to play.

Cabrini would stretch their lead to as many as 14 points at the 4:18 mark, but Marywood used a 10-2 run to narrow their deficit to 57-51 with 1:41 remaining when Allison Bruet converted a three-point play.  Following an Ashley Murray bucket that was sandwiched by four points from the free throw line for the Cavaliers, Bruet used another old-fashioned three-point play to bring Marywood to within five at 61-56, but the visitors could come no closer as Cabrini shot a perfect, 12-12 from the free throw line in the final two minutes of the game to seal the win.

MaryKate McCann finished with a game-high 19 points for Cabrini after shooting 5-8 from the field and 8-9 from the free throw line.  Stewart and Annie Rivituso each finished with 10 points while Stewart led all players with eight rebounds as the Cavaliers held a 49-35 advantage on the glass for the game.  Cabrini finished the afternoon hitting on 42 percent of their field goal attempts and 21-25 free throws.

Presnal led Marywood with 14 points and seven rebounds while Bruet (12) and Schaeffer (10) also finished in double figures as the Pacers connected on 31 percent of their shots from the floor and 71 percent of their free throws.  Thorsen tied for a game-high with five steals and corralled five rebounds.

Marywood will look to get back into the win column on Wednesday evening as the Pacers return home to host to Neumann University in a CSAC battle scheduled to start at 6:00 p.m. in the Insalaco Arena.
