Rosemont, PA – Host Rosemont College expanded a three-point halftime lead into double-digits in the second half before keeping visiting Marywood University at bay to pick up a key 58-43 Colonial States Athletic Conference men's basketball win over the Pacers Saturday afternoon in Rosemont.  Marywood, who now have lost six straight, fall to 4-9 on the year and 3-3 in the CSAC while the hosts improve to 7-5 and 3-2 in league play.

Rosemont took an early 4-0 lead in the game but the Pacers responded with a 6-0 run of their own to grab their first lead.  In a first half that featured six ties, Marywood built the largest lead by either team as the Pacers went up five on a James Lavan jumper, 19-14, with 6:25 left in the half.  From there, the Ravens closed the half on an 11-3 run to take a three-point lead into the locker room, 25-22.

The hosts had a 12-4 advantage in bench scoring in the opening half.  Tremell Green and Dan Kearney each had five points to lead the Ravens while Shane Kellaher led Marywood at the break with five as well.

Rosemont would open the half on a 7-1 run to extend their lead to 32-23 at the 17:00 mark of the second half and Marywood would only manage that one point until Matt Lepri hit from long range at 14:49 to make it 32-26 in favor of the Ravens.  With 13:15 left, Rosemont's Justin Chaney hit a three to put the Ravens back up 11, 37-26.  With just under 10 to play, the Pacers would find themselves in a bigger hole, down 43-30.

Marywood got back into the game with a 6-0 run over the next three minutes and were down just seven, 43-36, with 6:44 to play after a jumper by Brent Keyes found the bottom of the net.  After a steal and a timeout, a layup by Marywood's Pierre Bakinde cut the hosts lead to 49-43 with 3:06 left.  An offensive foul gave the Pacers the ball back with 2:33 left but Marywood failed to convert and Rosemont quickly capitalized, nailing a three at the other end to go back up nine, 52-43.  Chaney then went coast-to-coast after a missed free throw by Marywood to give the hosts another double-digit lead.

Chaney led three Ravens in double-digits with 13 points.  Marywood, despite a balanced scoring effort, did not place a single player in double-figures.  Bakinde led Marywood with eight points and eight rebounds.

Marywood returns to action Monday when they host Gwynedd-Mercy College at 7:00 pm in the Insalaco Arena.
