Scranton, PA - The University of Scranton opened their 2012-13 Landmark Conference swimming and diving season in strong fashion Friday evening, downing host Marywood University 165-113 at the Marywood University Aquatics Center.  Marywood freshman Zachary Haney had a strong showing for the Pacers, winning the 200 backstroke and 200 free, while Andy Blevins won the 200 butterfly and Ryan Widenor won the 100 butterfly for Marywood.

Haney opened the night with a first place showing in the 200 free, finishing in 1:49.66, four seconds ahead of the second place finisher.  Haney would go on and win the 200 backstroke later in the evening with a time of 2:06.33, edging Scranton's Brendan McCrossan who touche in 2:06.72. 

Daniel Adams finished sedond in the 100 backstroke for the Pacers, toucing in 57.54, just a second off the lead time (56.19).  Blevins was then the victor in the 200 butterfly, finishing with the top time of 2:04.66.  Chris Brown had a strong showing in the 200 backstroke, touching in 2:30.99 for second place.  Jason Beabout also finished second for the Pacers in the 500 free (5:02.29) while Haney finished third in the event (5:11.43).

Widenor came in first in the 100 butterfly (54.82) while the Pacers' 400 free relay team of Beabout, Haney, Anthony Pisano and Adams finished first in a time of 3:20.41. 

Marywood returns to action Friday evening when they travel to King's College for a 6:00pm meet.
