Langhorne, PA - Marywood University improved to 3-0-1 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference as the Pacers came away with a 3-1 victory over a tough Cairn University team on a rain soaked Tuesday afternoon just outside Philadelphia.  The Pacers (3-6-1) got a goal and assist from Siobhan Blancaflor and out-shot the hosts 41-5 on the day.  Cairn (2-8, 2-3 CSAC) got an incredible performance from goaltender Morgan Swan, who had a game-high 22 saves.

With a steady drizzle throughout the entire match, Marywood started strong with the game's first goal coming at the 9:40 mark off the foot of Emma Nye.  Nye took a thru ball inside the 18 from Blancaflor before beating one defender and slotting Swan for the game's first goal.  Marywood doubled their lead in the 22nd minute when Caitlin Kerkering dropped a cleared corner kick back to defender Erin Doyle.  Doyle promptly chipped the Highlander's defense and Swan from 35 yards out to make it a 2-0 Marywood lead.

Despite heavy pressure on Cairn's defense and Swan for the remainder of the half and much of the second half, Marywood could not find the back of the net again until Blancaflor took a thru ball from Angela Heydt in the 81st minute and beat Swan to make it 3-0 in favor of the Pacers.

The Highlanders did not go quietly though, as their hustle and determination on defense finally paid off on offense with just over three minutes remaining in the game.  Able to get the ball deep in Marywood's defensive third, Cairn's Kathleen Meacham found a streaking Naomi Collipp who's one-touch strike found the back of the net to spoil what would have been the Pacers fourth consecutive shutout in league play.

Victoria Pezdirtz made three saves on the day for Marywood and despite allowing the goal late, Marywood's defense played strong for much of the contests as the Pacers only allowed five total shots and only four on frame from Cairn.

Marywood returns to action Thursday when they host Kean University at 7:00pm in the Pacers' last non-conference game of the season.  The Cougars are ranked 7th in the latest NSCAA South Atlantic Region poll and received votes in the latest NSCAA national poll.
