Scranton, PA - Marywood University beat visiting Juniata College 107-97 for their first ever Landmark Conference victory in women's swimming and diving action.  In their second year in the conference, Marywood leveled their conference mark at 1-1 while improving to 1-2 on the year.  Katie Paterson won the 1000 and 500 free while the Pacers also got victories from Cara Cassandro, Kim Petersen, Amber Sharkey and Kayleigh Velott on the day.

Juniata opened the meet with a victory in the 200 yard medley relay in which Marywood's team of Olivia Hower, Cassandro, Sharkey and Valerie Barlow finished second, just seven seconds off the lead time of 1:59.57.  Paterson then earned her first win of the day in the 1000 free, touching in 11:21.01, 42 seconds ahead of her nearest competitor. 

In the 200 free, Velott found victory with a time of 2:10.12 while Sharkey finished third in 2:16.19.  Juniata would get points back in the 50 yard free as Emily Nye won in 26.22, edging Barlow from Marywood who touched in 27.52.  Hower finished third for the Pacers in 27.67.

Kim Petersen won the 200 IM in a time of 2:26.58 for the Pacers, while Sharkey won the 100 butterfly in 1:07.80.  Juniata would win the next two events in the 100 free and 100 backstroke to tighten the match, but the Pacers put the win away with another victory from Paterson in the 500 free.  Paterson touched in 5:36.91, thirteen seconds ahead of Juniata's Chirssie Whiteman.  Cassandro closed out the win for Marywood with a win in the 100 breaststroke, touching in 1:20.67, edging Kim Proenca from Juniata who finished in 1:21.65.

Katy Alexander scored a 145.05 while Heather Wimmer scored a 144.00 in exhibition 1-meter diving.  Marywood returns to action Friday in a non-conference meet at King's College at 6:00pm.
