Scranton, PA - Despite holding a commanding 33-12 advantage in shots for the game, Marywood University needed overtime heroics from Christian Lawlor to edge Centenary College 2-1 in Colonial States Athletic Conference men's soccer action Wednesday evening in Scranton.  Lawlor socred on a feed from Daniel Hull 7:11 into the first overtime period to lift the Pacers to the win.  Marywood improves to 5-4-1 overall and 2-0 in CSAC play while Centenary saw their record slip to 5-5, 0-3 CSAC.

Marywood dominated the game in teh early going, out-shooting the Cyclones 14-4 in the opening half and forcing Centenary goalkeeper Jesse Goleman to make four first half stops.  Serveral offsides calls ended some threats early as well.

Marywood grabbed a 1-0 lead 4:11 into the second half as Jamie Mangini took a thru ball from Brandon Ritter inside the six yard box and beat Goleman for the game's first goal.  In a physically played contest, it looked as if Marywood would hold that lead until the final whistle thanks in part to a great save from Shane Quinn on a tip over the crossbar midway through the second half.

Not giving up, the Cyclones changed things with just over three minutes remaining.  In the 87th minute, Glenn Brennen headed a shot at Marywood's Shane Quinn, who, despite making the initial save and coming into contact with Brennen, gave up a rebound in the air that Edward Medow followed with a header of his own to tie the game at 1-1.

Centenary had the first look in overtime but Quinn easily saved an outside shot.  With just under three minutes remaining in the first overtime period, Hull set up Lawlor's heroics by taking the ball down the left flank and cutting inside the 18 past two defenders.  Hull then forced Goleman to come off his line and found a streaking Lawlor inside the six yard box.  Lawlor calmly tapped in the game-winner into an open net to seal the Marywood win.

Marywood out-shot Centenary 33-12 on the night and held a 13-6 advantage in shots on goal.  The Pacers also had eight corners to Centenary's three.  Goleman made 11 stops in 97:11 of action for Centenary while Quinn made five saves in the win.

Marywood returns to action Saturday with a noon contest at CSAC foe Gwynedd-Mercy College.
