Langhorne, PA - Visiting Marywood University won a tight opening set but host Cairn University won the next three as the Highlanders handed the Pacers a 3-1 loss in Colonial States Athletic Conference volleyball action Wednesday evening in Langhorne.  Marywood fell to 11-8 overall and 4-3 in CSAC action while Cairn improved to 13-7 overall and 3-1 in league play.

The Pacers took a tight opening set 25-23, but Cairn responded with a victory by the same score in the second set.  The Highlanders got a little more breathing room in a 25-21 win in set three before blasting the Pacers 25-14 in the final set.

Marywood's Rachel Tollett had a match-high 25 digs on the night while Ashley Zalewski led the Pacers with 13 kills.  Kelly Chadwick had 37 assists while Amy Kester and Sara Melick each had a solo block and three block assists. 

Emily Mayer led Cairn with 18 kills while teammate Brigid Shehan added 11.  Erin Greenwood had a match-high 42 assists in the win for the Highlanders while Shehan added 23 digs for the hosts.

Marywood looks to get back on the winning side on October 9 when they travel to take on Penn State Berks in non-conference action. The match is slated for a 7:00pm start.
