Clarks Summit, PA - Despite dominating in the shot count again, Marywood University had a hard time finding the back of the net until a late goal by freshman Lauren Eck saved Marywood and kept the Pacers unbeaten in CSAC action as they escaped Baptist Bible College with a 1-0 win Tuesday afternoon. Eck's goal, her team-leading sixth of the season, came with just 8:44 minutes to play in regulation.  Marywood moves to 5-7-1 and 5-0-1 in the CSAC while BBC fell to 2-6-1, 1-3-1 CSAC.

The Defenders, coming off an impressive 1-1 tie at Cabrini College this past Saturday, put together another strong defensive effort and constantly frustrated the Pacers midfield and forwards.  Playing with five and sometimes six defensive players, Marywood found it difficult to get any strong looks in the final third.  Several clearances to speedy front-runners also gave BBC some dangerous looks on the afternoon.

Eck finally broke through in the game's waning moments as she took a feed inside the right edge of the 18 yard box, cut back to her left, beat two defenders then slotted BBC goalkeeper Katelyn King for the game-winner.

Marywood held a dominating 32-5 advantage in shots for the game but King came up with 17 saves to keep the Defenders alive.  Marywood also hit the post and crossbar twice in a 30-second span in the first half as Rachel Lamoreaux's strike 29 minutes in was followed by Siobhan Blancaflor hitting the near post thirty seconds later.

Emily Osborne got the shutout win for Marywood, turning away the two shots she saw and coming off her line numerous times to cut off attempted long balls from the Defenders.

Marywood is back in action on Saturday when they host Centenary College at 1:00pm in a key CSAC showdown.
