Box Score

Erie, PA – Number seven seed Marywood University used goals from Ryan Jones and Jamie Mangini to down third seed Lebanon Valley College 2-1 in the semifinals of the ECAC South Region men's soccer tournament Saturday afternoon at Penn State Behrend in Erie.  Marywood (12-6-3) advances to take on #5 Alvernia College in Sunday's Championship game.  The Crusaders advanced to the title game with a 2-0 win over top seed PSU-Behrend earlier Saturday.

2012 CSAC Player of the Year Ryan Jones opened the scoring for the Pacers in the 8th minute of play with a beautifully struck ball off a direct kick for his seventh goal of the season.  The Dutchmen found the equalizer with less than seven minutes remaining in the opening half on a goal from Andrew Cooper, but Jamie Mangini put the Pacers back up for good in the 59th minute with his fourth goal of the season.

Sunday's matchup will be the 12th all-time between Marywood and Alvernia with the Crusaders owning an 11-0 mark against the Pacers.  This will be the first matchup between the two institutions since the Crusaders left the then Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (now CSAC) for the Middle Atlantic Conference.

LVC out-shot the Pacers 8-7 on the day and had a great look in the 90th minute on a header after a corner kick but Shane Quinn made one of his three saves on the day to preserve the win.  Lebanon Valley had 12 corner kicks to Marywood's one.

Both teams are in their third trip to the ECAC South Region tournament and both will be making their first appearance in the title game.    The game will be played at 1:00pm.
