Men's Swimming Gets Landmark Win, Down Drew

Scranton, PA - Marywood University's men's swimming and diving team won 14 of 15 swimming events as the Pacers improved to 1-1 on the year in Landmark Conference action with a 155-98 win over Drew University Saturday afternoon in Scranton.  The Pacers improved to 2-5 overall with the win while the Rangers fell to 2-1 on the year overall and 0-1 in Landmark action.

The Pacers' 200 yard medley relay team got Marywood off to a good start with a win in the first event of the afternoon.  Zachary Haney, Chris Brown, Ryan Widenor and Daniel Adams finished first in a time of 1:44.14 to get Marywood 11 points. Haney then earned the Pacers another nine points with a first place showing in the 1000 free.  Haney finished in 10:33.77, beating teammate Anthony Pisano, who finished second, by 43 seconds. 

Jason Beabout then won the 200 yard freestyle in 1:52.70.  Daniel Adams finished second in the event witih at ime of 1:58.01, while Brian Shanahan won the 100 backstroke for the Pacers in 58.63. 

Brown was victorious in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:07.80, edging Drew's Clay Curran who touched in 1:08.74.  Widenor beat teammate Andy Blevins by less than a second int eh 50 yard butterfly as Widenor touched in 25.60 and Blevins finished in 26.04.  In the 50 free, Adams finished in 22.53 to win while Alex Martino finsihed second with a time of 24.27.

In the 100 free, Adams pulled out the win with a time of 50.46 while Martino finished third (54.43) after barely being edged out for second by Drew's Austin Goetjen (54.39).  Shanahan won the 50 backstroke for his second win of the day in a time of 27.30, edging teammates Michael Stauffer (27.60) and Haney (27.74) who finished in second and third, respectively.

Drew got their lone win of the event in the 50 breaststroke as Thomas DiGuglielmo edged Brown by less than a second.  In the 500 free, Beabout finished in 5:03.10 to win the event and Widenor won the 100 buttefly in 56.31.  Haney (2:09.59) won the 200 yard IM and the Pacers' 200 freestyle relay tema of Adams, Martino, Shanahan and Pisano closed out the event with a win in a time of 1:34.49.

Marywood hosts Catholic Univeristy tomorrow at 1:00pm.
