Beabout, Adams Set New Marywood Records in Loss to Catholic

Scranton, PA - Despite new school records from Jason Beabout in the 1000 free and Daniel Adams in the 100 free, Marywood University fell to visiting Catholic University of America 115-88 in Landmark Conference swimming action Sunday afternoon in Scranton.  Marywood fell to 2-6 overall and 1-2 in Landmark action while the Cardinal improved to 3-2 overall and 2-1 in conference. 

Beabout set a new Marywood record in the 1000 free in the second event of the afternoon as he finished in first place with a time of 10:17.71.  Marywood would then get three second place finishes from Zachary Haney (200 free, 1:50.71), Adams (50 free, 22.76) and Andy Blevins (200 IM, 2:09.47) before Blevins won the 200 butterfly in a time of 2:07.31.  Adams' 50 free time of 22.76 was just barely behind the race winner (22.59) while Anthony Pisano finished third in the event with a time of 22.78.  Ryan Widenor finished just behind Blevons in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:07.82.

Adams would then join Beabout as a record setter on the day when he finished second in the 100 free with a time of 49.78.  Pisano finished third in the event after touching in 50.59.  In the 200 backstroke, Brian Shanahan finshed second with a time of 2:08.41, just two seconds behind the winning time of 2:06.07.

In the 500 free, Haney finished first with a 5:04.40 and Marywood's 400 free relay team of Beabout, Pisano, Haney and Adams closed out the meet with a victory in a time of 3:20.65.

Marywood returns to action this weekend when they take part in the Golden Bear Invitational hosted by Kutztown University this Friday (Novemvber 16) and Saturday (November 17).
