Dallas, PA - Marywood University fell to Baptist Bible College 86-79 in the consolation game of the 2012 Laurel Line Tournament Saturday afternoon in Dallas.  Marywood got 21 points from Matt Tintle, 20 from Jonathan Velazquez and 18 from Andrew Andrle but the Defenders used a balance scoring attack and double-digit performances from four players to even their record at 1-1 on the year.  Marywood fell to 0-2.

The Pacers built a 38-36 halftime lead thanks in part to 46.4% shooting from the floor in the opening half.  Despite hitting 53.4% of their shots in the opening frame, Baptist Bible went into the break trailing by two when Velazquez took a feed from Tyrone Baker with 19 seconds remaining and scoring in the lane to put the Pacers up two.  Baptist Bible held a six point lead midway through the opening half (19-13) but the Pacers slowly chipped away at that lead in the next two minutes, eventually tying the game at the 8:16 mark on a three-pointer from Andrle.  Despite four ties in the first half, Marywood's only lead of the game came off of Velazquez's bucket at the end of the half.

Down 38-36 to start the second half, BBC used a quick 7-0 run to reclaim the lead, a lead they would not relinquish again.  That run would extend to 19-4 as the Defenders built a 13-point cushion (55-42) with just over 14 mintues remaining.  The Pacers got back into a single-digit deficit on a three from Tintle with 10:30 left, but less than a minute later the Defenders were back up by 10 points and they would carry a comfortable lead the rest of the way.

Marywood had a strong shooting night from the floor, connecting on 45% of their shots, but the Defenders remained hot all night, hitting 56.4% of their shots from the floor for the night.  For the second straight night, the Pacers struggled from long range, this time only hitting 36% of their efforts from three-point land.

BBC's Jordan Greve tied Tintle's game-high of 21 points and led all scorers for the Defenders.  BBC placed three other players in double-digits.  Besides the three big scorers for Marywood (Tintle, Velazquez and Andrle), the Pacers next highest scorer was Ryan Corrigan who contritubed eight points in the loss.

Marywood returns to the hardwood Tuesday night when they debut at home against Penn State Worthington Scranton.  Tip-off is set for 7:00pm in the Insalaco Arena.
