Annville, PA – Marywood opened its season with a 63-45 loss to FDU-Florham in the first round of the Rinso Marquette Tournament Saturday at Lebanon Valley College. The Pacers (0-1) move onto the consolation final where they will face Clarkson at 1:00pm. The Golden Knights fell to No. 10 Lebanon Valley earlier in the other first round matchup.
A 10-2 run to end the half provided the Devils with a 28-20 lead that it never relinquished. Carly Leitzel led the Pacers with nine rebounds. Morgann Haduck paced Marywood with a team-high eight points. Haduck shot 2-for-4 from the beyond the arc.
Leitzel joined teammates Maggie Presnal, Kimmy Green and Brittany Mang with six points apiece. Mang recorded four swipes.
Marywood traded leads three times with the Devils in the early stages of the game. Daniella Castellenos tied the game at 18-18 with 6:59 in the first, before a 15-4 run that spread into the second half supplied the Devils with a double-digit lead.
