Annville, PA - Marywood University's Brittany Mang had a team-high 20 points and the Pacers broke open a tight game midway through the second half to defeat Clarkson University 62-52 in the consolation game of the 2012 Rinso Marquette Tournament hosted by Lebanon Valley College in Annville.  Ashley Murray added 10 points in the win for Marywood, who evened their overall record at 1-1 on the year with the victory.  Clarkson fell to 0-3 with the loss.

Marywood got off to a strong start when Murray drained a three 13 seconds into the game for the first points of the game.  That three from Murray would be the Pacers' only one from long range the rest of the half though as Marywood missed their other three opportunites from distance.  A layup from Kimmy Green at the 13:05 mark put Marywood up nine and another from Maggie Presnal kept the Pacers' lead at nine at the 9:54 mark, but Clarkson slowly chipped away at the Marywood lead and would eventually go up one (24-23) with a layup from Ashley Loggins at the 2:16 mark of the first half.

From there, the two teams would trade leads until they went into the locker room tied at 27-27.  Clarkson hit 47.6% of their shots (10 of 21) from the floor in the first half while Marywood hit 39.3% (11 of 28).  Marywood scored 12 points off turnovers in the first half and the Pacers' bench out-scored Clarkson's 6-1 in the opening frame.

The two teams would trade leads througout the first eight and a half minutes of the second half, but the Pacers would break open a 40-40 game with a quick 6-0 highlighted by a jumper from Carly Leitzel and two from Mang.  Clarkson would get back to within four, but Marywood went on an 11-2 run to put the game away.

Morgan Haduck had six rebounds and six assists for the Pacers while Presnal had a team-high 12 boards.  Loggins led all scorers and rebounders with game highs of 21 points and 12 boards on the day for Clarkson.

After allowing Clarkson to hit 47.6% of their shots in the opening half, Marywood's defense clamped down and allowed just 24% shooting from the Golden Knights.

Marywood returns to action Tuesday night when they travel to nearby Wilkes University for a 7:00pm non-conference matchup.
