Binghamton, NY – Marywood University Head Men's Basketball Coach Eric Grundman did not have the return home to his native Binghamton the way he wanted for Thanksgiving weekend. Dunmore native Tommy Dempsey's NCAA Division I Binghamton University Bearcats used a 15-0 run over the opening five minutes of the second half to improve to 2-4 on the year with a 76-51 win over the Pacers in front of 3,604 fans at Binghamton University's Events Center.  Matt Tintle led Marywood with 19 points as the Pacers fell to 1-3 on the year.

For the second consecutive year, the Pacers took a 3-0 lead against a Division I opponent. Marywood kept pace with the Bearcats over the opening five minutes of play, taking a 6-5 lead on a pair of threes and trailing by just three (9-6) at the 14:50 mark.  But Binghamton used several five, six and seven point runs throughout the first half and eventually went up 20-10 before a Tintle jumper with 9:15 left brought Marywood back to a single digit deficit at 20-12.

Binghamton answered with a three which ignited a 10-2 run between the under 12 and eight minute media timeouts.  Tintle then had a 5-0 run on his own to end the Marywood scoring drought and the Pacers got back to within five (33-28) after Andrew Andrle and Jonathan Velazquez connected on three-pointers in successive Marywood possessions.  But BU answered with back-to-back three's as well to go back up 11 before Ryan Corrigan made a layup as time expired in the opening half to make it 39-30.

Tintle finished the first half with 14 points on 6 of 10 shooting from the floor which included a perfect 2-for-2 effort from long range.  Jordan Reed had 12 points to lead Binghamton in the first half.

The Bearcats opened the second half on a 15-0 run over five minutes which included three threes to go up 54-30 before Tintle hit a three to end the run.  That run expanded to 21-3 over the next 2:30 as the Bearcats built a commanding 61-33 lead.  The Bearcats limited Marywood to 1 of 13 shooting from the floor during that span as Marywood attempted six three pointers, only connecting on Tintle's effort.

For the game, Marywood shot just 29.1% from the floor including a 17.2% clip in the second half. Corrigan also reached double digits with 10 points.  Tyrone Baker led the Pacers with 7 boards.  Reed came off the bench to score a game-high 21 points for the Bearcats while Jimmy Gray added 15.  Reed and teammate Javon Ralling each had 11 boards.

Marywood returns to action this Thursday when the Pacers open CSAC play against Centenary College.  Tip-off is set for 7:00pm at the Insalaco Arena.
