Box Score

Scranton, PA - Visiting Stevenson University (Md.) limited Marywood University to just three offensive rebounds and the Mustangs placed five players in double figures, led by Christian Roberts' game-high 22 points, as they defeated the host Pacers 95-78 in non-conference men's basketball action Monday afternoon at Marywood's Insalaco Arena.  The Pacers fell to 2-7 with the loss and got a team-high 15 points from Andrew Andrle while the Mustangs improved to 5-4.

A tight affair throughout much of the first half, the Pacers built an early six-point lead on a free throw from newcomer Kendall Harris to go up 12-6 just over five minutes in. The Mustangs would battle back and go up 16-14 on a jumper from Roberts at the 11:58 mark, but Marywood again went up six (24-18) on a layup from Jonathan Velazquez with 9:36 remaining in the first half.

From there, Stevenson took control, using a 17-2 run over the next five minutes to reclaim a lead the would not relinquish again. Marywood got back to within five (43-38) on a free throw from Daniel Tintle with :30 left in the opening half, but Stevenson quickly extended their lead back to seven at the break and then went up by 15 after just three minutes of play in the second half.

The Pacers would only get their deficit back to single digits one time the rest of the way as the Mustangs cruised to their fifth win of the season.  Roberts led all scorers with 22 points on eight of 10 shooting from the floor and a five of six effort from the charity stripe.  Stefon McCray added 19 points and grabbed seven boards for the Mustangs while Brett Burrier (13), Tyson Jacobs (11) and Alfonzo Hawkins (10) all reached double digits.

Andrle's team-high 15 came on five of eight shooting for Marywood including a 3 of 6 mark from three-point range.  Matt Tintle (13), brother Daniel (14) and Harris (10) all reached double digits for Marywood.  The Pacers were hindered by just three offensive boards and a 18 of 28 (64 percent) effort from the free throw line.

Marywood returns to action on January 2 as the Pacers take part in the second annual Cross County Challenge. The Challenge is being hosted by Wilkes University, and the Pacers will take on the Colonels in opening-round action before facing King's College on Jan. 3.
