Scranton, PA – Immaculata University saw a 17-point second half lead shrink to a single point in Monday evening's Colonial States Athletic Conference women's basketball game at Marywood University, but the Mighty Macs hung on for a 68-66 victory.  Immaculata improves to 13-11 on the season and 11-4 in league play while Marywood's record slips to 16-8 overall and 11-4 in the CSAC.
 
Marywood held an early 5-4 lead of Monday night's game, but Immaculata responded with a13-0 run to hold an 18-5 advantage with 11:15 to play in the first half.  The Pacers countered with a 7-0 spurt of their own to cut their deficit to six, but the Mighty Macs used a 10-2 burst to lead 28-14 with 5:23 left on the clock.  The visitors would go on to lead by as much as 19 points in the first and took a 39-21 advantage into the locker room.
 
Immaculata, who shot 44.8 percent from the floor in the opening period, got 14 first half point from Leah Kuczynski and 10 from Bridget Welz.  The Pacers hit on 37.5 percent of their attempts from the floor in the opening 20 minutes of play.
 
Immaculata stretched their lead to 40-23 in the first minute of the second half, but the Pacers rattled off 12 straight points to cut their deficit to 40-35 with 14:45 remaining.  The Mighty Macs stretched their lead back to 12 points with 6:30 left on the clock and held a 65-59 advantage with 2:18 to play.  From there, the Pacers used a 7-1 run to draw within three at 66-63 on a three pointer from Marra Butler with 21 seconds left. 
 
After Kelly Brown hit the back end of a pair of free throws at the other end, Allison Bruet drained a three-pointer from the corner to bring Marywood within a single point, as they trailed 67-66, with seven ticks left on the clock.  Immaculata's Sara Smith converted her first free throw after being fouled but missed the second shot.  The Pacers grabbed the rebound and raced down the court, but a long jumper at the buzzer would not fall as Marywood suffered their second-straight conference setback.
 
Kuczynski finished with a game high 21 points and led Immaculata with seven rebounds.  Welz added 20 points while Brown and Chrissy Esbensen each added 11 points as the Mighty Macs shot 43.2 percent from the floor on the evening, 30 percent from beyond the arc, and 81.8 percent from the free throw line. 
 
Maggie Presnal came off the bench for Marywood to score a career-best 20 points while adding a game-high nine rebounds.  Mariah Schaeffer finished the evening with 10 points and moved into sixth place on Marywood's all-time scoring.  The senior guard now has 1,206 points for her career.  Marywood shot 37.1 percent from the field for the game, 26.7 percent from long range, and 69.6 percent from the charity stripe.
 
Carly Leitzel led all players with three steals Maddie Lavery and Lindsey Schroth had two blocked shots apiece for the Pacers.
 
Marywood closes out their regular season on Wednesday evening as they play host to Centenary College in a CSAC matchup scheduled for 6:00 p.m. in the Insalaco Arena.
