Women’s Basketball Earns ECAC Tournament Bid; Will Host Bethany on Wednesday

Centerville, MA – Marywood University's women's basketball team has earned its second-straight bid to the Eastern Conference Athletic Conference (ECAC) South Region Tournament.  The Pacers were selected as the number four seed and will host fifth-seeded Bethany College in a quarterfinal matchup on Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. in the Insalaco Arena.
 
Marywood currently sports an 18-9 record on the season after suffering a heartbreaking, 82-78 double-overtime loss to eventual conference champion Gywnedd-Mercy College last Wednesday in the Colonial States Athletic Conference semifinals.  The Pacers are led  by a trio of seniors who all reached the 1,000 career point milestone this season including Second Team All-CSAC pick Mariah Schaeffer (104. ppg), Marielle Thorsen (10.7 ppg), and All-Conference Honorable Mention selection Allison Bruet (9.1 ppg).
 
Bethany, who is 16-11 this season, was defeated by Thomas More in the Presidents Athletic Conference semifinals last Friday.  The Bison are led by junior guard Kayla Taormina (11.3 ppg) and senior guard Anne Wilson (11.1 ppg).
