Allentown, PA – Ashley Murray set a school-record with eight three-pointers and finished with a season-high 28 points to lead Marywood University's women's basketball team to a 78–52 victory over Cedar Crest College in Colonial States Athletic Conference action on Wednesday evening.  The Pacers' win, coupled with Baptist Bible's 86-81 loss to Gwynedd-Mercy, puts Marywood back in sole possession of first place in the CSAC North Division heading into Saturday afternoon's pivotal league matchup between the Pacers (16-6, 11-2 CSAC) and the Defenders (15-6, 10-3 CSAC).

Before looking ahead to Saturday's battle against their local rivals, Marywood had to take care of business against Cedar Crest, and the Pacers did just that behind hot outside shooting, led by Murray's record night.  Holding a slim, 11-9 lead with 13:12 to play in the first half, Marywood embarked on a 26-3 run over the next 9:12 to break open the contest with a 37-12 lead with four minutes left in the period.  The Pacers would hold a 38-18 advantage at the intermission.

Marywood, who defeated Cedar Crest 85-41 in December, scored the first ten points of the second half to put themselves well on their way to the season sweep as the Falcons came no closer to than within 21 points the rest of the way.

Murray finished with a season-high 28 points on 10-16 shooting including an impressive 8-12 effort from beyond the arc.  The freshman guard broke Becki Carman's old record of seven three pointers made which had stood since December of 1993.  As a team, Marywood finished the game with 11 treys - including Marielle Thorsen hitting a pair and Morgann Haduck adding one – to match their performance against Philadelphia Biblical University one week ago, which falls a single three-pointer away from a school record established in 1989.

Thorsen added 15 points on 6-8 shooting for the night while Maddie Lavery grabbed a team-leading eight rebounds as Marywood held a 45-42 edge on caroms for the night.  Carly Leitzel led all players with five assists and tied for a game-high with three steals.

Cedar Crest, who saw their record slide to 6-17 overall and 3-11 in conference play with the loss, got a double-double from Lizzy Sunderhaus, who scored 21 points while leading all players with 18 rebounds.  Amber Wehry (13 points) and Megan DeMutis (10 points) also finished in double-figures for the Falcons.

Marywood returns to the court on Saturday against Baptist Bible at 1:00 p.m.. The Pacers, who topped Defenders 69-45 on the road in January, have tabbed the contest as a Pink Game to raise money and awareness in the fight against breast cancer.
