Uniondale, NY - Amherst College snapped Marywood University's winning streak at three games on Tuesday evening with a 16-6 victory over the Pacers in a non-conference men's lacrosse game played at the Mitchel Sports Complex in Uniondale, NY.  The Jeffs, ranked fifth in the nation according to the latest USILA Coaches' Poll, improve to 5-0 on the season while Marywood will take a 3-3 record into Saturday's conference opener at Gwynedd-Mercy College.
 
Amherst scored the first three goals of Tuesday night's contest before Brandon Terlizzi scored unassisted with 6:32 to play in the first quarter for the first goal of his collegiate career.  Cole Cherney's third goal of the game with 3:13 left in the first quarter gave the Jeffs a 4-1 lead heading into the second quarter, where Amherst would outscore the Pacers 5-0 to hold a 9-1 lead at halftime.
 
The Jeffs extended their lead to 13-1 by netting the first four goals of the third quarter before Terlizzi netted his second tally of the evening with 5:31 remaining in the period, and Sam Trill scored his team-leading 12th goal of the season 33 seconds later of a Derek Schmidt assist.
 
The two teams scored three goals apiece in the fourth quarter to close out the scoring.  Andrew Alberalla scored unassisted at the 12:05 mark of the final period and Dylan Swope found the back of the net off a feed from Riley Dobel with 4:49 remaining.  Dante Frederico netted the game's final goal with 2:14 left on the clock with Trill assisting on the man-up goal.
 
Amherst, who held a 43-19 advantage in shots for the game and a 38-18 advantage in groundballs, was led by Cherney's seven points, which came on five goals and two assists.  Evan Redwood added five points on a goal and four assists and Devin Acton added four points on three goals and one helper in the win for the Jeffs, who got six saves from winning goalie Sam Jakimo and one from Greg Jakmo. 
 
Terlizzi (2 goals) and Trill  (1 goal, 1 assist) had two points apiece to pace Marywood's attack.  The Pacers got 10 saves from Nicholas Cornella in nearly 55 minutes of action in Marywood's cage while Steve Kilian turned aside one shot by the Jeffs in the final 5:17.  Defenseman Nick Johnson led Marywood with four caused turnovers and four groundballs.
 
Marywood will travel to Gwynedd Valley, PA on Saturday to kickoff the Colonial States Athletic Conference portion of their schedule against Gwynedd-Mercy.  Opening faceoff between the Pacers and Griffins is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
