Scranton, PA – Bobby Thorp scored a game-high eight points to carry Cabrini College to an 18-4 victory over Marywood University in a Colonial States Athletic Conference men's lacrosse game on Wednesday afternoon in Scranton.  The Cavaliers, currently ranked 11th in the nation, improve to 7-2 overall and 2-0 in conference play while the Pacers fall to 4-4 on the year and 1-1 in the CSAC.
 
Cabrini scored the first four goals of Wednesday's rematch of the 2011 CSAC Championship game before Sam Trill scored off a pass from Marcus Janda to cut the Cavaliers lead to 4-1 with 2:42 to play in the first quarter.  Cabrini responded by scoring the game's next nine goals to hold a 13-1 advantage with 6:01 showing on the first half clock.
 
Joe LaBella halted the visitor's run with an unassisted tally with 4:11 left in the second quarter, but Cabrini added one more before halftime and would also net the only goal in the third stanza to hold a 15-2 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
 
The Cavaliers stretched their lead to 17-2 with a pair of goals before reigning CSAC Player of the Week Riley Dobel found net after taking a feed from Derek Schmidt.  After Cabrini tacked on one more goal, Trill closed out the scoring off a Dobel assist with 46 seconds to play for his second goal of the game and team-leading 15th tally of the season.
 
Thorp's eight points came on five goals and three assists while Brian Hill added five points on three goals and two assists.  Damian Sobieski added two goals and two assists while Cabrini got multi-point efforts from four other players.  The Cavaliers held a 56-16 advantage in shots for the game and held a 50-38 advantage in groundballs.  Erick Zarzecki made five saves in goal to pick up the win.
 
Trill (2 goals) and Dobel (1 goal, 1 assist) had two-point games to lead Marywood's attack.  Nicholas Cornella made a season-high 19 saves in just over 55 minutes of action the Pacers' cage while Steve Kilian added one stop in 3:09 in net.
 
Greg Nester and Andrew Alberalla led Marywood with four groundballs apiece and Nick Johnson and Chris Vogel each contributed a pair of caused turnovers apiece.
 
Marywood will visit Centenary College on Saturday for a CSAC matchup scheduled to faceoff at 2:00 p.m. in Hackettstown, NJ.
