Clearmont, FL - Marywood University suffered a pair of setbacks to open their annual spring break trip at the National Training Center in Clearmont, Florida Monday as the Pacers fell to Carroll University (Wisconsin) and John Carroll University (Ohio) by identical 10-1 scores.

In the opener against Carroll, Alexandra Stine took the loss for Marywood after pitching four innings on the mound.  Katherine King pitched one inning of relief.  Taylor Steinhilber got the win for the Pioneers with a complete game effort.

Carroll scored twicein the first, and added three in the second, four in the third and one in the fifth.  Marywood scored their lone run when Diana Butash singled in the third and socred on a Kim Lope RBI hit after Chelsea Zimmerman had moved Butash to second with a hard hit single. 

In the nightcap, John Carroll University scored one in the first, two in the fouth and fifth and added five runs in the sixth to put the game away.  Marywood scored their run in the bottom of the sixth.  Lope led off with a single and stole second.  Meghan Palmer would move Lope to third with a single and a Stine sacrifice fly to left would score Lope. 

Kaitlyn Jones took the loss for Marywood after allowing three runs over four innings.  Jackie Parsons pitched the final two innings for the Pacers, allowing seven funs.  Brittany Daniloy pitched a complete game for John Carroll to get the win.

Marywood takes to the diamond again Tuesday when they face Northwestern College (MN) at 9:00am and Saint Vincent College at 11:00am.
