Fort Pierce, FL - Michael Ciavarella and Nicholas DeFebo each threw complete games as Marywood University completed a doubleheader sweep of Geneva College (PA) Tuesday morning in Florida.  Ciavarella threw a six-hit shutout with five strikeouts in a 4-0 win while DeFebo struck out ten to win the nightcap.

In the opener, Marywood plated three runs in the third thanks to a two-run triple by Nicholas PasqualichioShane Miller's sacrifice RBI brought in the third run of the inning.  The Pacers scored their fourth run of the game in the fifth inning when Josh Plisko singled and moved to third on a two-base throwing error.  Mike Diskin's sac fly to center brought Plisko home for the final run of the game.

In the nightcap, DeFebo kept Marywood in the game with a strong performance on the mound, striking out ten and allowing just five hits.  Marywood scored once in the first but Geneva took a 2-1 lead when they scored once in the third and once in the fourth.

Marywood would rally in the sixth when Chris Ortiz singled to open the inning and move to second on a sac bunt from David Maione.  Ortiz would steal third, and a throwing error allowed him to score immediately to tie the game at 2-2.

Mike Pinelli was then hit by a pitch to reach first and would move to second on a single.  Mike Diskin reached on a error, but a baserunning error cost Marywood the go ahead run as Pinelli was called out for missing third on the play.  Fortunately for the Pacers, Jonathan Woytach singled to bring home Plisko for the winning run.

Pasqualichio, Miller, Woytach and Ortiz all had two hits in the nightcap with Pasqualichio hitting two doubles and Woytach adding a double.

Marywood (4-1) returns to the field Thursday when they take on Westminster College (PA) in a doubleheader starting at 8:45am.
