Game 2 Box Score vs Northwestern

Clearmont, FL - Marywood University fell to 1-7 in softball action as the Pacers dropped a pair of contests Thursday.  Marywood lost to Ohio Northern 8-0 before Northwestern College (MN) completed a sweep of the Pacers with a 3-2 win.  Marywood will look to close out their trip on a positive note Friday when they take on Oswego State (3:00pm) and the University of Saint Francis (5:00pm).

In the opener against Ohio Northern, Katherine King fell to 0-2 on the mound after taking the loss.  Marywood managed just two hits in the game, one coming off the bat of Meghin Palmer and the other coming from Kim Lope.

In the much closer nightcap against Northwestern (MN), the Pacers came up short in rally attempt and lost 3-2.  Northwestern had previously beaten Marywood 7-4 on Tuesday, giving the Eagles a two-game sweep of the Pacers in Florida.

Jaclyn Parsons (0-2) took the loss on the mound despite a complete-game effort with three strikeouts and only one walk.  Down 3-0 in the top of the fifth, Kayla Pompovitch led off with a homerun, the first of her collegiate career, to get the Pacers' bats going.  In the sixth, Lope led off with a single, stole second and moved to third on a Palmer bunt.  Kellsie Davis' sacrifice fly to center would score Lope, but unfortunately the rally ended there.

Palmer was 2-4 with two stolen bases in the nightcap while Alexandra Stine was 1-for-3 with a double. Stine's double came in the 7th but she was stranded there as the tying run.
